Nizamia observatory is a Space observatory, which was established in 1907 during the reign of the Nizams of Hyderabad state.
Its founder was Nawab Zafar Jung, an England-educated rich noble man. Taken over by the government in 1907, the observatory for years worked on an ambitious programme of photographing and charting a large segment of the sky.[1]
The observatory is believed to have cataloged more than a lakh stars, exposed thousands of photos during Nizam period.
It was located at old Begumpet which is now shifted to Osmania University campus.
